Revolutionary War Soldier
Captain Charles Allen, Sr. was born ca 1730 in that area of Virginia that was known as Spotslyvania County . In 1734 it became Orange County and in 1749 it was Culpeper County, Virginia. Charles married Anne Vincent ca 1756 in Culpeper County. About 1765 Charles and Anne moved to old Bute County, North Carolina. In 1779 the name was changed to Warren County, North Carolina.
Charles Allen was commissioned a Captain in the militia during the Revolutionary War. At least two of his sons served under him--Charles Allen, Jr. and Vincent Allen.
Captain Charles Allen was a very active citizen in Warren County, North Carolina as can be seen by looking at the county records. Charles made his will on 28 December 1807 and it was proved in court at the February Term 1808--thus he probably died in January 1808. His wife Anne survived him and is shown in the 1810 census along with her children. The will names the children in this order:
1. James Allen

Jr.
