I, Charles Allen of the county of Warren and State
of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this
to be my Last Will & Testament. Viz: First it is my will & desire
that all my just debts be paid. Then, it is my will and desire that my
beloved wife Anne Allen should have the use of my land and plantation whereon
I now live and my five negroes namely Sol, Peter, Matthew, Nely and Pink
during the term of her natural life and at her ( my said wife ) death I
give and bequeath the aforesaid land and plantation to my son James Allen,
to him his heirs and assigns forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my
son John Allen at the death of my wife the above named negro man Peter,
to him his heirs and assigns forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto
my son Vincent Allen my negro man namely Stephen which he has in his possession
now, to him and his heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath unto
my son George Allen my negro man namely Merridy, which he has in his possession
now, to him his heirs and assigns forever. Item. I give and bequeath
unto my daughter Anne Huff my negro boy named Soloman during the term of
her natural life and at her death to be equally devided between all her
children to them their heirs and assigns forever. Item. I give and
bequeath unto my son Charles Allen my negro man named Lewis to him his
heirs and assigns forever. Item. It is my will and desire that my daughter
Rebecca Pierce after the death of my wife should have the use of the above
named negroes Nely and Pink and their future increase during the term of
her natural life and at her death to be equally devided between all her
children. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Turner
my negro boy named Anderson to her, her heirs and assigns forever. It is
my will and desire that after the death of my wife that the aforesaid named
negroes Sol and Matthew be sold by my executors and the money arising from
such sale to be equally devided between my son William Allen, my daughter
Sally Huff and my daughter Elizabeth Wren to them their heirs and assigns
forever. It is my will and desire that all the rest of my property not
therein given away should be sold and out of the process to pay all my
just debts and the overplus if any remains to be equally devided between
all my children and lastly I do constitute , appoint my three sons, Vincent
Allen, George Allen and James Allen, executors to this my last will and
testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
twenty-eighth day of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight
hundred and seven.

The Last Will & Testament of Charles Allen
was proved in open court by the oaths of Charles Marshall and Nathan Turner,
subscribing witnesses thereto and upon motion was ordered to be recorded
and adm. therein granted Charles Allen.
