JAMES HAWLEY/HOLLEY
James Hawley born c1610 and wife Ann born 1615 were my 7th Great
Grandparents.
They came to Virginia in 1641. James died c1678 in Northumberland
County, Va.
Their children were:

HENRY HOLLEY II
1675 - 1723
Henry Holley II was born c1675 in Westmoreland County, Va. and
wife, Mary. In
1710 Henry had a Land Grant of 330 acres on Occaquan Main Run
of Quanticott in
Stafford County, Virginia. In 1731 Prince William County was
formed from Stafford
and his land was then in the new county of Prince William.
His children were:
THOMAS HOLLEY
c1710 - c1780-85
Thomas Holley was born c1710 in Stafford County ,Virginia (now
Prince William
County). His wife is unknown. Thomas left Virginia about 1740
and came into North Carolina, where he lived for several years before moving
on to Orangeburg District, South Carolina. Due to the destruction of the
Orangeburg records most of his children are unknown. The known children
were:

JAMES HOLLEY
Born c1750 - Died 1829
James Holley was born c1750 exact place unknown, but married in South Carolina c1773. His wife is unknown. He had only 3 sons. James Holley died in Newberry County, South Carolina c1829. His children were:
1. James Holley, Jr. B1774 - moved to Lowndes County,
Alabama.

JOHN HOLLEY
1785 - 1861
John Holley was born in 1785 in Edgefield District, South Carolina. He married Rosannah Waters, daughter of Col. Thomas Waters about 1807. John and Rosannah lived in Newberry County, South Carolina until 1829 when they purchased the Holley - Waters Ferry on the Saluda River. They moved across the Saluda into Edgefield County, South Carolina (now Saluda County). The ferry was purchased from the heirs of Philemon "Ferry Phil" Waters, a brother of Rosannah Waters Holley.
Rosannah died about 1856. John Holley died 23 September 1861. Both are buried in the old Holley - Waters Cemetery on the banks of the Saluda River in now Saluda County, South Carolina.

DAVID MARK HOLLEY

David Mark Holley was born in 1810 in Newberry District, South
Carolina.
He married 1. Mary________. By 1840 he lived in Butler County,
Alabama with his Waters cousins. By 1850 he lived in Attala County, Mississippi.
He had these children by his first wife Mary :

David Mark Holley married 2. Elizabeth Jane McBride in 1860, the daughter of James McBride and Martha "Patsy" Cain. Elizabeth Jane was born in 1842 in South Carolina. Their children were:

David Mark Holley died 1865. Jane Holley died 1870's. Both are buried in Suggs Graveyard, Attala County, Mississippi. Suggs was an early pioneer cemetery.
JAMES MADISON HOLLEY
1861 - 1921
James Madison Holley was born 5 November 1861 in Attala County, Mississippi. He married Martha Elizabeth Virginia Burks in 1888. She was the daughter of John Wesley Burks and Martha Jane Summerlin. Their children were:
James Madison Holley died November 1921 and is buried at Rocky Hill Church, Madison County, Mississippi. Martha Burks Holley died 1 February 1953 and is buried Greenville, Mississippi.
