Col. Thomas Waters
1738 - After 1810British Army
Colonel Thomas Waters was born in 1738 in Prince William County, Virginia. He was the son of Philemon Waters II and his wife Sarah Bordroyne. He was the brother of Col. Phil Waters II, the Patriot.
Thomas Waters moved south first into Georgia, likely Savannah, which is right next to Beaufort, South Carolina where brother William settled and a short distance from Charleston where hisbrother Philemon Waters III had settled. His place of marriage in unknown, but may have been in Georgia or South Carolina. He soon moved to Charleston and was there by 1768 when he appears in a deed. He probably came into Georgia and South Carolina about the same time that Brother Philemon moved to Charleston-ca 1758-59. He first appears in the South Carolina records in 1768 and seems to be well established by then. However he had been in a Troop of Cavalry in Savannah, Georgia in 1760 as stated by Sir. James Wright in later years. His brother Philemon was already in South Carolina.
Thomas Waters is listed as an Indian Trader and merchant in Charleston, South Carolina. His business partner was Edward Barnard. Below are listed the earliest deeds for Thomas Waters.
