Samuel Jordan Allen
1838 - After 1900
Samuel Jordan Allen was born in Williamson County, Tennessee in February 1838. He was the son of Sandford G. Allen and Nancy Allen. He married Mary Ann White on 31 August 1859 in Williamson County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Wiley B. White, who had been Sheriff of Williamson County. Samuel & Mary lived in Williamson County until after 1865 when Samuel's father died. They moved a few miles away and in the 1870 and 1880 census they are in Rutherford County, Tennessee. The census skips from 1880 until 1900. In 1900 Samuel & Mary lived in the 5th Civil District of Williamson County, Tennessee. Research continues.
Samuel's & Mary's children were:
1. Mary J. Allen born 1860 in Williamson County, Tennessee. She married J. M. Mosley on 28 July 1881 in Rutherford County, Tennessee.
2. Gussie Allen born c 1861 in Williamson County, Tennessee. She married _____Vinson ca 1878 and had one son, James Vinson. Gussie died before the 1880 census. James Vinson was in the household of his grandparents, Samuel & Mary Allen in 1880.
3. Elizabeth Ann " Lizzie" Allen born c 1862 in Williamson County, Tennessee. She married Jasper Mosley on 19 December 1882 in Rutherford County, Tennessee.
4. James A. Allen born c 1865 in Williamson County, Tennessee. He married Rachel A. Morgan on 14 September 1889 in Rutherford County, Tennessee.
5. Sarah Lockey Victoria Allen born 15 February 1868 in Rutherford County, Tennessee. She was married a first time and had no children. She married a second time to James Harvey Croach and they lived in New Madrid, Missouri. Both died there. See next page.
6. Charles Wesley Allen born c 1871 in Rutherford County, Tennessee. In later years he lived west of New Madrid, Missouri.
