" IN HIS HANDS "

James Hannah of  Ireland & South Carolina

James Hannah was born in Down, Ireland in 1744. Cousin J.K.P. Hanna wrote in 1903 that James was born in Ireland in Down.  He did not state whether it was a county or a parish. Which did he mean ??? As a young man he became embroiled in a political dispute and had to flee Ireland. It is said he came to Charleston, South Carolina on the ship of a relative in 1767. Land was being given to the Irish people at that time and he took advantage of the land act.

He settled in Fairfield County, South Carolina. To whom he was married is not known. He had a large family. His children were;

6. Andrew Hannah. This son was named by Cousin J.K.P. Hannah in 1903, but I could never find him. I think he got the names mixed up and meant  John, which he didn't name.
